Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. Short Bio
Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15,1929 in Atlanta,Georgia as Michael King Jr. but later changed his name. He graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. Then he received the B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College (A segregated school). After three years of theological study at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. He was elected president of a mostly white senior class. Then he enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University where he recieved his doctorate.
After King Married his wife Coretta Scott they moved to Montgomery,Alabama where he became a pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. King has always been a part of the Civil Rights Movement. In December 1955 he took on leadership of the first African American Nonviolent demonstration He led the bus boycott in Motngomery, Alabama.
Dr. Martin Luther King Led many Protests , and gave many speeches. However On April 4,1968 the day before he was to give speech King was on his motel balcony in Memphis,Tennessee and he was assassinated by James Earl Ray.
